As marketers, it's our job to keep up with SEO strategies. However, the rules of the game are basically set by Google, and they're always changing. Who can keep up with all of the Hummingbirds, Pandas and Penguins out there?
We always welcome an opportunity to get a refresher lesson and be informed of new Search Engine Optimization strategies. That's exactly what happened at last week's #GulfCoastHUG meetup!
Andrea Stark of IMS ExpertServices gave an informative presentation on best practices for utilizing SEO as part of a content marketing strategy. We learned how to properly employ meta information, optimize images to appear in Google image search, use Schema markup, and create sitemaps for different types of media.
Many of you have given me feedback that you learned a lot from the presentation, so here's a link to the slides and Andrea's notes. It can be challenging to make SEO interesting, but Andrea did a wonderful job of keeping the crowd interested and engaged with questions.
Following Andrea's presentation, Beth McClean of AppRiver discussed how using HubSpot's SEO tools can help you increase your search engine rank through relevant optimized content.
Stay tuned for details about our next HUG meetup in August.
